Dr Albrecht Neesse

Albrecht Neesse, MD, PhD is Associate Professor and clinical consultant in Gastroenterology and interventional Endoscopy at the University Medical Centre Göttingen, Germany. He has specialized in interventional EUS/ERCP as well as luminal endoscopy. Particularly, Dr. Neesse is interested in diseases of the pancreas including acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic neoplastic cysts and pancreatic cancer. His laboratory aims to exploit alterations of the microbiome and metabolome in acute pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer patients for novel diagnostic and therapeutic avenues. To this end, Dr. Neesse has coordinated several large clinical trials and currently runs the largest global microbiome study in acute pancreatitis patients. Dr. Neesse has been a member of the Scientific Committee of United European Gastroenterology (UEG) and several national guideline committees. Currently, he holds the position as Editor in Chief of United European Gastroenterology Journal (UEGJ).
