Helen Brown
Helen Brown currently works as a community dietitian at the Nurse Maude Hospice Palliative Care Service, Christchurch, New Zealand. Prior to this Helen was a dietitian working in mental health covering drug and alcohol detox, methadone programme and acute mental health services at Hillmorton Hospital and in the community.
In her job as a palliative care Dietitian she sees patients across Canterbury with a wide range of life limiting illness’s. She has a particular interest in the care of patients with pancreatic cancer and has involved in research in this area over the last 15 years. She also sees patients diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in the Canterbury region. She has been invited to lecture at Canterbury University in the postgraduate palliative care programme, and presented on Pancreatic cancer at conferences Nationally and internationally.
Helen is a Dietitian prescriber. This enables her to prescribe both Nutritionals supplements and some medications including Creon, Vitamins and minerals to her patients.
