Jin-Young Jang

Professor Jin-Young Jang is a leading surgeon and academic in hepato-biliary-pancreatic (HBP) surgery. He is Chair of the Department of Surgery at Seoul National University College of Medicine and Chair of the Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery. He also directs the Robot Centre at Seoul National University Hospital, where he advances robotic and minimally invasive techniques for complex pancreatic and biliary diseases.

Professor Jang completed his MD, MS and PhD at Seoul National University and trained in general and pancreatic surgery at Seoul National University Hospital. He undertook research training at the National Cancer Centre in Tokyo and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Texas.

An authority in pancreatic cancer and cystic neoplasms, he has contributed extensively to international guidelines through the International Association of Pancreatology and the Asia-Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. His academic record includes more than 500 scientific articles—over 450 in SCI(E)-indexed journals—and chapters in international textbooks on pancreatic cancer.

Professor Jang’s contributions have been recognised with multiple awards, including the Bunsch Medical Award, the BUMSUK Medical Award, and repeated honours as Best Research Professor at Seoul National University. He has also been named ‘Best Doctor in Pancreatic Cancer’ by Korea’s Education Broadcasting System.

Through his leadership, research and innovation, Professor Jang continues to shape the future of pancreatic surgery and improve patient outcomes worldwide.
