Max Petrov
Max Petrov, MD, MPH, PhD, is a New Zealand pancreatologist and Professor at the University of Auckland. He leads the internationally recognised COSMOS programme, known for its cutting-edge research and excellence in translational, clinical, and epidemiological training in pancreatic diseases. Under his leadership, COSMOS has produced over 250 publications in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in PubMed, with these works cited more than 15,000 times. Since 2020, Professor Petrov has been consistently named among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University.
The COSMOS programme is also the cornerstone of his academic mentorship. To date, he has supervised more than 35 PhD and master’s candidates to successful completion, serving as the main supervisor for each. In addition, Professor Petrov serves the American College of Gastroenterology as an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
