Nam Nguyen
Professor Nam Nguyen is Head of Endoscopy at the Department of Gastroenterology, Royal Adelaide Hospital, and is a Clinical Professor at the Discipline of Medicine of the University of Adelaide, South Australia. He has specific interest in areas of pancreatico-biliary disorders, GI physiology and nutrition, and endo-bariatric interventions. He has expertise and research interest in advanced endoscopic techniques including ERCP, EUS, enteroscopy and EMR. He has an established funded research program (over AU$4 million up to date) in the areas of nutrition, gut physiology in obesity and chronic liver diseases, interventional endoscopy, and precision medicine in pancreatico-biliary cancers. He co-established the stereostatic body radiation therapy (SBRT) service for treatment of pancreatico-biliary in South Australia and is part of the national “MASTERPLAN” trial to evaluate the effect of combined chemotherapy and SBRT for pancreatic cancer. Currently, his research group also explores the role of intra-tumoural 32P (Oncosil) in the treatment of locally advanced pancreatic cancer. He has trained many local and international endoscopic fellows and supervised 6 PhD candidates. Prof Nguyen has published 178 peer-reviewed papers, 5 editorials and 18 book chapters. He is co-authors in 6 original peer-reviewed publication in Nature. He is the current Section Editor of Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Cancers, Frontier of Medicine, Endoscopic Ultrasound Journal, World Journal of Gastroenterology, and Critical Care.
