Rachel Neale

Professor Rachel Neale is a senior researcher and Deputy Director of the Population Health Program at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. She leads a nationally recognised research program focused on pancreatic cancer epidemiology, including risk factors, early detection, and prevention strategies. With a PhD in skin cancer prevention and an NHMRC Sidney Sax Fellowship at the University of Oxford, Professor Neale brings a strong background in cancer research and large-scale population studies. Her work has helped shape understanding of the role of environmental and biological factors—such as vitamin D—in cancer risk. She leads the Health Working Group for the United Nations Environmental Effects Assessment Panel, which reports to the parties to the Montreal Protocol, and holds an adjunct professorial appointment at the University of Queensland.
