Stephen Pandol
Dr. Pandol is currently Director, Basic and Translational Pancreas Research at Cedars Sinai-Medical Center. He is a founder of Avenzoar Pharmaceutics, a company developing agents for treatment and prevention of therapy resistance and metastatic cancer focused on pancreatic cancer.
He is a leading international authority in gastroenterology and pancreatology. Dr. Pandol heads a large research group devoted to understanding the mechanisms underlying medical disorders including inflammatory, diabetes and cancer diseases of the pancreas. The research is designed to provide information needed for treatment and prevention of these disorders. He has published over 500 scientific articles, book chapters and topic reviews; and he lectures and leads symposia frequently both domestically and internationally about his research results and outlining mechanism-based strategies for cures.
Dr. Pandol is Co-Leader of the United States Consortium on Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer which is developing methods for diagnosis and treatment of chronic pancreatitis and early identification pancreatic cancer. He is a past president of the American Pancreatic Association; and currently the editor for Frontiers in Gastrointestinal Sciences and a past associate editor for the American Journal of Physiology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
